Yemen: Airstrike, shelling kills 10 militants

SANAA, Yemen (AP) -- Yemen's Defense Ministry says air and artillery strikes have killed 10 al-Qaida-linked militants in the south of the country.
The statement said the air raid targeted a militant communication station near the southern coastal town of Shaqra early Wednesday, killing three and wounding seven.
Military officials say the station was used by the militants to direct operations via the Internet, wireless communications and a satellite telephone.
The officials said army shelling of the town of Jaar killed seven fighters and injured 12 over the past 24 hours. The army is conducting an offensive against the town, which has been in al-Qaida's hands for over a year.
They spoke on condition of anonymity in line with military regulations.
