Essam El-Erian to join Morsi's advisory team

Leading figure of the Muslim Brotherhood Essam El-Erian announced on Sunday that he was joining Mohamed Morsi's presidential team after being offered the position.

On his Twitter account El-Erian announced that he would continue to be acting chairman of the Brotherhood-affiliated Freedom and Justice Party until elections for a new chairman take place. El-Erian has been acting chairman since Morsi stepped down from the post on assumption of the presidency.
Earlier this month it was announced that Morsi's advisory team would be joined by Samir Murcos, a prominent Christian thinker, as well as Salafist Nour Party chairman Emad Abdel-Ghafour.
Media reports also claimed that Sakina Fouad, a journalist and acitivst, and Seif El-Din Abdel-Fattah, a political science researcher and former political advisor, in adition to members of a number of political youth coalitions would be joining the presidential team. These reports have not been confirmed however.
The position was declined by a number of political figures including leftist activist Wael Khalil and co-founder of April 6 Youth Movement Ahmed Maher.
