Syrian army general boosts morale of troops in Homs, restricts their leaves

Restrictions have been tightened on the leaves of absence of Syrian army soldiers due to the deteriorating situation in the country.

In an undated video, received by Al Arabiya, a general in the Syrian Army Republican Guards boosted the morale of the soldiers at his unit and underlined the importance of the mission they are assigned to in the besieged Syrian neighborhood of Baba Amro in Homs.

The general, identified in the video as General Badii, encouraged his soldiers to go on with their mission and insisted that they should defeat the conspiracy against Syria.
“I did not come here to encourage you, but on the contrary, you have encouraged me and boosted my morale, especially with your smiling faces…I admire every soldier and every officer in this unit…without you, I would not exist,” General Badii said, as the soldiers chanted “we will sacrifice our souls and blood for you Bashar.”

“The international political stand changed after the fall of Baba Amro…The whole world is betting on the rest of neighborhoods…They will never affect our will and resistance…the issue is that we should get over with Baba Amro and then head to other…(he named some neighborhoods in Homs)…and then towards the refugees,” he said.

He promised them with reinforcements to aid them in their mission. He told them that new army soldiers were being trained inside and outside Syria to join their unit soon.

“I believe, and probably you too, that if we return (to our barracks) the armed groups will return and take our positions here,” General Badii said amid chants “fighters”…“Shabiha for your eyes Assad.”

“What do we mean by Republican Guards? We mean that we should fight on all regions of the Arab Republic of Syria,” he added as the soldiers chanted “we sacrifice our souls and blood for you Bashar.”

“We derive our power from his patience and wisdom in managing the crisis successfully in a way that amazed the whole world,” said the general as the soldiers repeated “Allah, Syria and Bashar only.”

General Badii apologized for restricting the leaves of his soldiers and told them that it was safer for them to remain at the Military Academy than returning to the barracks at the Republican Guards. He said that it was better that members of their families could come and visit them at their headquarters.

He promised them attractive rewards in the form of new houses and cars once they accomplish the mission successfully.

“Very soon, Idlib will not have any armed groups. Armed groups are still present in villages, trying to put down our enthusiasm,” General Badii said amid the chants of his soldiers “God, Syria and Bashar only.”
