FJP demands 25 January as national day for the revolution

The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) has called for the government to recognise 25 January as a national day for the revolution to pay respect to the martyrs of the revolution, in a statement it issued on Monday.

They also demanded that the government compensate the families of the martyrs and to provide care for the revolution’s injured.

In the same statement, the FJP demanded that the advisory council of the SCAF not extend its powers so as not to create more confusion for the public. They called on political parties to participate effectively in the upcoming parliament in order to put quick legislative and supervisory plans to restore the role of Egyptian parliament in the political life after the revolution.

The party that won about half the seats in the parliament demanded in its statement that SCAF respects the timetable announced in the constitutional declaration and to hold the presidential elections immediately after the joint session of the parliament and upper house.
